The Via Ferrata Tière (iron path), halfway between Val d'Illiez and Champéry, is a high-adrenaline activity, part-hiking trail, part-climbing wall for adults & children to experience the thrill of mountain climbing in complete safety.

The Swiss resorts of the Portes du Soleil, Champery, Val d'Illiez, and Morgins have joined forces to form BikePark, Switzerland's biggest mountain bike park and regular hosts of the Swiss Mountain Bike Championships.

The Portes du Soleil has over 800km of walks to choose from. There is a 40km long trekking circuit around the majestic Dents du Midi - the wild limestone massif between the Val du Trient and Val d'Illiez which takes three to four days to complete, well away from all roads and villages. In this enchanting place, which is also ideal for family outings, woodland walks or mushroom gathering, there is a 40m high limestone cliff with marked climbing routes of varying degrees of difficulty. There are several good golf courses nearby. Aigle is the closest, but the world famous course of Crans sur Sierre is just over an hour away.

Not for the faint hearted: This is a popular activity in the Valais and involves a zip-wire, trapeze and swings high up in the trees using safety harnesses! The closest is at Champoussin.
